Potato Chat Salad With Special K

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Potatoes, boiled, sliced
  • ¼ cups Black chana, boiled
  • 8-10 Cherry Tomatoes, cut into half
  • ½ Onion, chopped small
  • 1 Green chili, chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup Yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Pomegranate kernels,
  • 2 tbsp Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder (degi mirch)
  • Black salt, to taste
  • ½ Lime juice
  • Green coriander chutney
  • Tamarind dates chutney
  • 1 cups Special K, lightly toasted

Directions:

1. Heat non stick pan; lightly toast Special K.2. Beat yogurt with salt and black salt. Keep aside.3. In mixing bowl add potatoes, chana, tomatoes, onion, green chili, pomegranate and coriander leaves and mix well.4. Just before service add Special K, yogurt mixture and mix lightly. Sprinkle degi mirch.5. Serve with green and tamarind date chutney.

Broccoli , Peanut , Chicken and Special K Kebabs with Andhra spices

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Kellogg's Special K, crushed
  • ½ cup Broccoli, chopped finely
  • 1 cup Chicken, minced
  • 1/4 cups Roasted peanuts, coarsely crushed
  • 1 medium Oninon Chopped
  • 1 Green chilies chopped
  • 3/4 cups Coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp Gun Powder
  • 1 tbsp Aamchur powder/ dry mango powder
  • 5-7 Curry leaves
  • to taste salt
  • 2 tbsp oil

Directions:

1. In non stick kadhai, add oil and crackle some curry leaves. Add onions, green chili and cook for 1 minute. 2. saute minced chicken for another 3 minutes for medium flame. 3. Add broccoli and peanuts, gun powder. Saute for 2-3 minutes. 4. Remove from the heat and now add Special K and coconut milk. Return to the heat and cook till the sauce thickens. 5. Adjust seasoning and sprinkle aamchur powder. Cool in refrigerator. 6. Make small size kebabs and shallow fry them in non stick frying pan until light brown from both sides. 7. Serve immediately.

  2. Mind your quantity of intake: If you consumed 3 roti / 4 slices of bread , or 1 soup bowl full rice, cut it to 1/3rd . Consume only 2 roti/ 3 slices of bread or 1/3 rd bowl rice.
  3. Add more of veggies and fruits: While avoiding those starchy ones like potato, banana, and mangoes. Wherever possible eat fruits with the peels. 
  4. Add weight loss special foods to your routine. Green tea, warm lemon water , soaked almonds, uncooked raw veggies, loads and loads of melon fruits and water.
  5. Replace the unhealthy with healthy. Refined flour with whole flour, red meats with lean meats, whole milk with skimmed milk, frying with baking, roasting and grilling.
  6. Introduce a medium to slow pace exercise like yoga, meditation, walking to your routine. If you plan to join gym, don’t do it immediately. Join after your 1st phase is successfully completed.

Continue the regime for a month. By the end of this phase you would probably lose around 2 – 2.5 kgs of weight. If not. Don’t worry. You would lose later.

How to lose weight; Phase 2?

  2. After each meal, have a cup of warm lemon water . This will increase your metabolic rate and help in digestion.
  3. Increase your exercise time and level a gear up.  If you want to join gym, workout for 45 – 50 minutes. With first 40 minutes of aerobic exercises and later 10 minutes of anaerobic exercises.  Or you can join other activities like swimming, lawn tennis, hiking, skating. Or if you are walking, then start brisk walking and jogging.
  4. Indulgence is allowed. If you really wish to party and enjoy. Don’t back off. You are only dieting and not on a punishment. So go ahead enjoy your day off. But next day get to your exercise and diet regime.
  5. Check weight only once in a week. Those who check weight every day or even 3 times a day  are known to give up on their diet routine easily.
